Life insurance with an ITIN, EAD or visa
You do not need a Social Security number to buy life insurance in Kansas. We work with carriers through Ethos that accept applicants with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) or a valid U.S. visa. Every family deserves protection, regardless of immigration status.
What identification do I need?
Individual Taxpayer Identification Number
Accepted for life insurance coverage. Some applications require manual underwriting, which may add a few days.
Employment Authorization Document
Accepted for coverage. Manual underwriting may be required for some applicants.
Valid U.S. visa
Most visa types are accepted, and these applications typically receive an instant decision.
Requirements for ITIN applicants
To qualify for coverage using an ITIN, applicants generally need to meet all of the following:
- Have lived in the United States for at least 18 months
- Be under regular medical care based in the United States
- Have seen a physician within the last 18 months
- Have no plans to travel outside the United States within two years
- Be between the ages of 20 and 85
